Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Do men think that We shall never be able to assemble their bones? 3 Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 And the sun and the moon shall be joined. 9 That day man will say: "Where can I find escape?" 10 No! There is no refuge! 11 With your Lord alone shall on that day be the place of rest. 12 That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. 13 Nay! man is evidence against himself, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 The exposition of its meaning surely rests on Us. 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 and neglect the Hereafter. 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 Looking at their Lord (Allah); 23 And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, 24 knowing that a crushing calamity is about to befall them. 25 But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. 28 and is enwrapped in the pangs of death 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
