Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Surely We are able to reform even his finger-tips. 4 But man would fain deny what is before him. 5 He asks: “When will the Day of Resurrection be?” 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 on that Day will man say: “Whither the refuge?” 10 Never! There is no refuge! 11 Before thy Lord (alone), that Day will be the place of rest. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 Although he tender his excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 We shall be responsible for its collection and its recitation. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 then it will be for Us to explain it. 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 [Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 And that day will other faces be despondent, 24 In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; 25 Nay; when a man's soul reaches up to the throat, 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 He will then realise it is the parting, 28 and calf is inter-twined with calf. 29 On that Day you will be driven to your Lord. 30
