Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 In fact man wishes to commit evil in front of Him! 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 but when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon will be eclipsed, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 That day man will say: "Where can I find escape?" 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 The only place of refuge will be with God. 12 Man will be apprised, on that Day, of what he has done and what he has left undone: 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 And when We have recited it to you [O Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)], then follow you its (the Quran's) recital. 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 Looking at their Lord (Allah); 23 and some faces on that Day will be gloomy, 24 thou mightest think the Calamity has been wreaked on them. 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allah)! 30
