Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Yea! WE are Able to put together evenly his finger-tips. 4 But man would fain deny what is before him. 5 He asks, “When will be the Day of Resurrection?” 6 But when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon darkens 8 And the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 No, there is no refuge. 11 With thy Sustainer, on that Day, the journey's end will be! 12 On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. 13 In fact, man himself is keeping an eye on his state of affairs! 14 Although he tender his excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith. 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 And so when We recite it, follow its recitation attentively; 18 and then, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Truly, you love immediate gain 20 and neglect the life to come. 21 That day will faces be resplendent, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 And agony is heaped on agony; 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
