Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Does man (a disbeliever) think that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Indeed yes, We are able to shape his fingerstips yet again! 4 In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. 5 He asks, "When will be the Day of Judgment?" 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are joined together, 9 people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?" 10 Certainly not! There will be no place of refuge. 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat that Day. 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith. 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear to you, 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 and are heedless of the Everlasting Life. 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 Looking at their Lord. 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
