Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ By the Day of Resurrection, 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man (a disbeliever) think that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 We certainly have the power to restore them even the very tips of their finger. 4 Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins. 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 but when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 and the sun and the moon are joined together, 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 No, there shall be no (place of) refuge. 11 Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day. 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 Although he tender his excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 We Ourself shall see to its collection and recital. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 How many faces will be refulgent on that Day, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 Others will be despondent, 24 knowing that a crushing calamity is about to befall them. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 and when it is asked: "Could any magician save him now?"; 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 when his legs are brought together [when affliction is combined with affliction]; 29 upon that Day the driving shall be to your Lord. 30
