Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 He asks, "When will be the Day of Judgment?" 6 but when the sight is dazed 7 and the moon eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are joined together, 9 people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?" 10 No! There is no refuge. 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat that Day. 12 Man will be apprised, on that Day, of what he has done and what he has left undone: 13 In fact, people are well-aware of their own soul 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 (Muhammad), do not move your tongue too quickly to recite the Quran. 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 Then indeed, to explain its details to you is upon Us. 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 and are heedless of the Everlasting Life. 21 How many faces will be refulgent on that Day, 22 and will be looking towards their Lord; 23 and upon that day faces shall be scowling, 24 Fearing that a great disaster is going to befall them. 25 But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, 26 And it is cried. who can charm? 27 and he knows that it is the time of parting; 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
