Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 Nay, I swear by the accusing soul (that this Scripture is true). 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We are able to shape again his fingers. 4 Nay, but man desires to continue on as a libertine, 5 He asketh: When will be this Day of Resurrection? 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 And the sun and moon are conjoined, 9 on that Day will man exclaim "Whither to flee?" 10 But there is nowhere to take refuge: 11 The only place of refuge will be with God. 12 On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions). 13 nay, but man shall against himself be an eye-witness, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 Verily upon us is the collecting thereof and the reciting thereof. 17 Therefore when We have recited it, follow its recitation. 18 Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear to you, 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 And leave alone the Hereafter. 21 How many faces will be refulgent on that Day, 22 Looking toward their Lord; 23 And countenances on that Day shall be scowling. 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 But, when (the soul) reaches the collar bone 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 On that Day you will be driven to your Lord. 30
