Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer). 2 Does man (a disbeliever) think that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 In fact man wishes to commit evil in front of Him! 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 but when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 On that Day shall man say: whither is the fleeing. 10 No, there is no refuge. 11 Unto your Lord (Alone) will be the place of rest that Day. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 He shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 And when We read it, follow thou the reading; 18 Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): 19 Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but (you men) love the present life of this world, 20 and neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 gazing upon their Lord; 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 And it is asked: "Is there any reciter of charms and amulets?" 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
