Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And I call the reprehensive soul to witness: 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Surely We are able to reform even his finger-tips. 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon shall be ecliped. 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. 12 On that Day will man be apprised of his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 13 Nay! man is evidence against himself, 14 Although he tender his excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Verily upon us is the collecting thereof and the reciting thereof. 17 But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): 18 then it will be for Us to explain it. 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 And leave (neglect) the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 And how many faces on that Day will be woe-begone 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 And he knoweth that it is the parting; 28 when his legs are brought together [when affliction is combined with affliction]; 29 That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
