Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection]. 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 We certainly have the power to restore them even the very tips of their finger. 4 In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 Yet when the eyes are dazzled, 7 The moon eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon are joined, 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day. 12 To man will be declared on that Day that which he hath sent on and left behind. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 even though he may veil himself in excuses. 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 We shall be responsible for its explanation. 19 None except you, O disbelievers – you love what you have, the fleeting one. 20 And neglect the hereafter. 21 Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- 22 gazing towards their Lord. 23 Others will be despondent, 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
