Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Resurrection?' 6 But when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 And the sun and moon are joined together,- 9 on that Day the human will ask: 'To (which place) shall I flee' 10 By no means! NO refuge! 11 on that Day, to your Lord alone is the recourse. 12 On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. 13 In fact, man himself is keeping an eye on his state of affairs! 14 Even if he presents his excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 It's gathering and reciting is upon Us. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 and then, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 and neglect the life to come. 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 and will be looking towards their Lord; 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
