Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil). 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Surely We are able to reform even his finger-tips. 4 Yet man is sceptical of what is right before him. 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 when the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 Surely it is for Us to have you commit it to memory and to recite it. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 Human beings certainly do not want to pay much attention to the Quran. In fact, they love the worldly life 20 and neglect the life to come. 21 On the Day of Judgment some faces will be bright, 22 looking towards their Lord; 23 And on that day some faces will be ghastly. 24 Imagining that there will befall them a waiste-breaking calomity. 25 By no means! When it cometh up to the collar-bone. 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 He will then realise it is the parting, 28 When legs are twisted around each other, 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
