Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 He asks: “When will the Day of Resurrection be?” 6 So when vision is dazzled 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 on that Day, to your Lord alone is the recourse. 12 On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions). 13 nay, but man shall against himself be an eye-witness, 14 in spite of all the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation (by Us). 18 It's explanation is upon Us. 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 Looking to their Lord. 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 believing that a crushing calamity is about to strike them. 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 and it is said: “Is there any enchanter who can step forward and help (by his chanting)?” 27 the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, 28 And affliction is combined with affliction; 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
