Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ I CALL TO WITNESS the Day of Resurrection, 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Yea! WE are Able to put together evenly his finger-tips. 4 But man wishes to do wrong (even) in the time in front of him. 5 he asks, "When is this Day of Resurrection to be?" 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 No! There is no refuge! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 On that Day will man be apprised of his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 13 Nay! man is evidence against himself, 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 (O Prophet), do not stir your tongue hastily (to commit the Revelation to memory). 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear to you, 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 and are heedless of the Everlasting Life. 21 Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 and upon that day faces shall be scowling, 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 And it is said: Who will be a magician? 27 And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
