Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil). 2 What, does the human think We shall never gather his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins. 5 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Resurrection?' 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon are joined, 9 people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?" 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat that Day. 12 On that Day will man be apprised of his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 Although he tender his excuses. 15 (O Prophet), do not stir your tongue hastily (to commit the Revelation to memory). 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation. 18 Then Ours it is to explain it. 19 Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but (you men) love the present life of this world, 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 How many faces will be refulgent on that Day, 22 Looking to their Lord. 23 Others will be despondent, 24 Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. 25 Never so, for when life withdraws into the clavicula, 26 and it is said: “Is there any enchanter who can step forward and help (by his chanting)?” 27 And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
