Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 and by the self accusing soul (that you will certainly be resurrected). 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Surely We are able to reform even his finger-tips. 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 he asks, "When is this Day of Resurrection to be?" 6 but when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" 10 No indeed; not a refuge! 11 Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day. 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 We shall be responsible for its collection and its recitation. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 And leave (neglect) the Hereafter. 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 Looking to their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 And he knoweth that it is the parting; 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
