Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And I call the reprehensive soul to witness: 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 Indeed yes, We are able to shape his fingerstips yet again! 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 No! There is no refuge. 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 On that day, man will be informed of all what he sent ahead and left behind. 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 in spite of all the excuses he may offer. 15 (Muhammad), do not move your tongue too quickly to recite the Quran. 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 That day will faces be resplendent, 22 gazing upon their Lord; 23 and some faces on that Day will be gloomy, 24 Fearing that a great disaster is going to befall them. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 And it is cried. who can charm? 27 And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting 28 And affliction is combined with affliction; 29 That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! 30
