Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ By the Day of Resurrection, 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yea! WE are Able to put together evenly his finger-tips. 4 Nay, but man desires to continue on as a libertine, 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 but when the sight is dazed 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together 9 That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day. 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 Indeed, man shall be a witness against himself, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 Do not forestall (the revelation before its completion) by acting in haste. 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 And so when We recite it, follow its recitation attentively; 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 and will be looking towards their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 thou mightest think the Calamity has been wreaked on them. 25 Nay; when a man's soul reaches up to the throat, 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
