Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 We certainly have the power to restore them even the very tips of their finger. 4 Rather, the human desires to continue in his immorality, 5 asking [derisively,] "When is that Resurrection Day to be?" 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 And the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" 10 No! There is no refuge. 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 He shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 Although he tender his excuses. 15 Do not forestall (the revelation before its completion) by acting in haste. 16 We shall be responsible for its collection and its recitation. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation (by Us). 18 It's explanation is upon Us. 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 And neglect the hereafter. 21 Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- 22 looking towards their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 thou mightest think the Calamity has been wreaked on them. 25 Nay; when a man's soul reaches up to the throat, 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
