The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. 3 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. 6 They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; 7 And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: 8 (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. 9 Verily we dread from our Lord a Day grim and distressful. 10 And so, God will preserve them from the woes of that Day, and will bestow on them brightness and joy, 11 and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. 12 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). 13 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
