The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? 1 We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. 2 Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. 3 We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: 9 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. 12 Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 They [i.e., the virtuous] shall be attired in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade and will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure wine to drink. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
