The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. 6 They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading. 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 Wherefore Allah shall preserve them from the evil of that Day, and shall cause them to meet brightness and joy. 11 And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments]. 12 Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. 19 Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. 20 They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
