The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? 1 Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him – We therefore made him hearing, knowing. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 (Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading, 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful." 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 And shall recompense them for that which they patiently bare with a Garden and silken garment. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they shall behold therein neither sun nor hurting cold. 13 And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. 14 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. 16 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, 17 from a flowing spring called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." 22
