The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? 1 Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. 2 Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide. 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. 9 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” 10 So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness 11 And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, 12 Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
