The Human (Al-Insan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. 2 We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 a fountain whereat drink the servants of God, making it to gush forth plenteously. 6 [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, 7 And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, 9 "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." 10 Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, 13 And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach. 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 17 From a spring by the name of Ever-flowing-Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. 20 Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
