The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- 8 (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 And reward them for their perseverence Paradise and silken robes, 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,- 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 A spring there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. 19 when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. 20 In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
