The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, 6 they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; 7 And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. 8 We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: 9 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." 22
