The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? 1 Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him – We therefore made him hearing, knowing. 2 We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. 6 They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, 17 (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; 19 and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." 22
