The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. 2 Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. 3 For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. 4 The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. 5 From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. 6 The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. 7 And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 Passed round will be silver flagons and goblets made of glass, 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- 17 A spring there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. 20 Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
