The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
HAS THERE [not] been an endless span of time before man [appeared - a time] when he was not yet a thing to be thought of? 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, 11 And shall recompense them for that which they patiently bare with a Garden and silken garment. 12 Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. 13 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. 14 And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. 16 Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent 20 Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
