The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. 2 Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. 6 (Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading, 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; 9 for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. 10 Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,- 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. 21 This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. 22
