The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? 1 Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him We therefore made him hearing, knowing. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but 4 Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; 19 when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. 21 This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. 22
