The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 But the righteous shall drink of a goblet mixed with camphor; 5 which flows from a spring from which the servants of God will drink. 6 [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, 7 And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him, 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." 10 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they shall behold therein neither sun nor hurting cold. 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 Passed round will be silver flagons and goblets made of glass, 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." 22
