The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? 1 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” 10 So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 from a flowing spring called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. 19 when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. 20 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. 21 Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. 22
