The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? 1 Verily We created man out of a drop of intermingled sperm so that We might try him, and We therefore endowed him with hearing and sight. 2 Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. 3 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. 6 they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; 7 And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: 8 (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. 9 We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, 13 And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure. 16 And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- 17 (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be served by immortal youths who look like scattered pearls. 19 And when you look towards it, you will see serenity and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
