The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. 2 Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, 9 Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day. 10 So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness 11 and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; 12 Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. 13 The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 And in Paradise they will be given to drink cups, filled with a mixture of ginger. 17 Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. 18 ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' 22
