The Human (Al-Insan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they will find there neither (heat of) a sun nor bitter cold. 13 The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure. 16 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, 17 From a spring by the name of Ever-flowing-Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall go about them; when thou seest them, thou supposest them scattered pearls, 19 when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
