The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2 We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: 8 (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. 12 Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. 13 And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. 22
