The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 those who, for the love of Him, feed the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. 9 We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." 10 So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, 13 And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, 17 (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
