The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? 1 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; 2 Surely We guided him upon the way whether he be thankful or unthankful. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire. 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, 11 And shall recompense them for that which they patiently bare with a Garden and silken garment. 12 Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. 19 If you were to see it, you would find it to be a great kingdom with great bounty. 20 They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. 21 This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. 22
