The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? 1 Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. 2 Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, 12 They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 from a spring named salsabil. 18 ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; 19 when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. 20 In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
