The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? 1 We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass 15 Also there will be crystal clear goblets of silver containing the exact measure of drink which they desire. 16 And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc.), 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. 20 They [i.e., the virtuous] shall be attired in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade and will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure wine to drink. 21 Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. 22
