The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. 4 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, 5 A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. 6 they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they shall behold therein neither sun nor hurting cold. 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
