The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? 1 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. 6 They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." 10 So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). 16 Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 From a spring by the name of Ever-flowing-Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
