The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? 1 Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. 2 We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 But the righteous shall drink of a goblet mixed with camphor; 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading. 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they shall behold therein neither sun nor hurting cold. 13 And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach. 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 crystal of silver that they have measured -- very exactly. 16 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. 19 Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' 22
