The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. 2 Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth We have readied chains and shackles, and a blazing flame 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day. 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, 15 goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. 16 Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. 18 ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 20 they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. 22
