The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 Verily We created man out of a drop of intermingled sperm so that We might try him, and We therefore endowed him with hearing and sight. 2 Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. 8 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. 13 Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 20 They [i.e., the virtuous] shall be attired in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade and will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure wine to drink. 21 Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. 22
