The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? 1 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; 2 Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. 3 We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). 4 As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 And so, God will preserve them from the woes of that Day, and will bestow on them brightness and joy, 11 And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments]. 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. 19 when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. 22
