50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the (winds) sent forth in quick succession, 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 And those [angels] who bring criterion 4 And those [angels] who deliver a message 5 to provide excuses for some and to give warnings to others: 6 surely, that which you have been promised is about to fall! 7 When the stars are obliterated, 8 And when the heaven is opened 9 And when the mountains are blown away, 10 And when the apostles are collected at the appointed time, 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 For the Day of Judgement. 13 And what will explain to you what is the Day of sorting out? 14 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 15 Have We not destroyed the earlier generations? 16 Then did We follow them up with later ones. 17 Thus deal We ever with the guilty. 18 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 Then We lodged you in a secure place (the womb) 21 Till a limit known? 22 And We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine. 23 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 24 Made We not the earth to be a housing 25 for the living and for the dead? 26 And placed therein high mountains and given you to drink sweet water therein? 27 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 28 (It will be said to the disbelievers): "Depart you to that which you used to deny! 29 Go to the shadow with three ramifications, 30 "(Which yields) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze. 31 "Indeed it throws about sparks (huge) as Forts, 32 Seeming like yellow camels. 33 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 34 This is a day in which they will not be able to speak. 35 Nor will they be given permission to present excuses. 36 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 37 That is the Day of Judgment. We will bring you together with all the ancient peoples. 38 If you have any plans, use them. 39 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 40
